Who was Wes?

If you knew Wes Griffin, you probably have a story.

Maybe it was the conversation that lasted much longer than either of you expected because he made you feel like the only person in the room. Maybe it was the laugh that filled the space around him, the hand he was always willing to lend, or the way he remembered your name long after you first met. Wes had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen. He believed that everyone mattered, and he had a way of making sure they knew it.

That spirit followed him throughout every stage of his life.

As a kid, Wes discovered the friendships, confidence, and sense of belonging that come from being involved in activities beyond the classroom. Those experiences stayed with him and shaped the man he became. He understood that extracurricular activities aren't just about learning a sport, playing an instrument, or joining a club—they're where young people discover who they are, build lifelong friendships, overcome challenges, and gain confidence that carries into every part of life.

As an adult, Wes never lost that appreciation. Whether he was cheering from the sidelines, supporting school programs, volunteering his time, encouraging young people, or simply showing up for those around him, he believed every child deserved the opportunity to find something they loved and a place where they belonged. He knew that one opportunity, one coach, one teammate, or one encouraging adult could change the course of a child's life.

In the spring of 2026, following an unexpected medical complication, Wes passed away far too soon. While his loss left an unimaginable void, it also inspired those who loved him to continue the way he lived—by helping others.

But even in the midst of overwhelming grief, one thought continued to surface: How do we keep living Wes's way?

The answer became Wes's Way Foundation.

The name represents far more than a person—it represents a way of living. Wes believed in showing up for others, lending a hand, and making sure people felt included. "Wes's Way" is a commitment to carrying that spirit forward by creating opportunities for children to pursue the activities that help them learn, grow, and thrive.

Every grant awarded, every opportunity created, and every child encouraged is another chapter in Wes's story. His life reminds us that generosity isn't measured by grand gestures, but by the countless small ways we choose to invest in one another. Through Wes's Way Foundation, we hope that spirit continues to open doors, inspire dreams, and ensure that more children have the opportunity to discover where they belong.
